The Office of the Child and Youth Advocate is closely monitoring the COVID-19 situation and is putting in place measures to protect the health and safety of the public and our staff.

Requests for advocacy assistance can continue to be made by phone or email, however the office is closed. We will be remotely checking messages on a daily basis.

The Advocate for Children and Youth is an Independent Statutory office of the House of Assembly of Newfoundland and Labrador. This office has the authority to represent the rights, interests and viewpoints of children and youth who are entitled to receive services and access programs provided by the government of this province.

The ACY provides advocacy services to children and youth in four main capacities:

  • Individual Advocacy
  • Systemic Advocacy
  • Education and Promotion
  • Reviews and Investigations
